I’m in the middle of my first real transition on this journey to the Middle East. Two weeks ago, I watched my amazing roommate of 3 1/2 years pack up and move out. It was weird. A lot happens in 3 1/2 years. A lot happens circumstantially, but even more happens in us as we learn who we really are, what we struggle with, how we deal with those struggles, and how we allow the Lord to perfect us in those moments. They were 3 1/2 years that I will be forever grateful for. I am better because of them.
And now I look ahead. In eighteen days, my new roommate moves in. We’ve been roommates before, but we’ve both grown up and changed a lot in the thirteen years since then. My amazing older sister is coming home from five years in Peru and I get the incredible blessing of having her here with me. I am so excited to have her wealth of knowledge and experience in living overseas. I’m excited to make this our home. And I love that we’ll get to watch, encourage, and challenge each other to be more like Christ from something other than email, iChat, and the phone.
I love looking back at where I’ve been. I’m excited about what’s ahead. And I’m so grateful I serve a God who has had it all in place since before time began.
